Theoretical Design of Dye Molecules in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

2017-9-15

Project: Theoretical Design of Dye Molecules in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

Project Content:
Society's demand for clean energy is growing, as fossil-fuel energy is depleted, and pollution worsens. The search for new clean energy has become one of the most popular research areas in science and technology. Solar energy is one of the most popular sources for clean energy. Silicon-based solar has become an important complementary energy source. However, in the production process of silicon solar cells, there are still problems of high energy consumption and high pollution. As a result, new thin-film solar cells, including CIGS and amorphous silicon, have been proposed and implemented in the laboratory. Some of them have already been put into production. At present, the efficiency of photoelectric conversion of dye sensitized solar cells is about 14%, which is only a step away from the standard of mass production. Therefore, it has received wide attention.

Project Purpose:
1 The project will give students a more comprehensive knowledge of physics and chemistry which are related to electronics and semiconductors.
2. To teach students specific calculation operations, which can be carried out without relying on the underlying physics knowledge, so as to ensure the efficiency of the research.
3 The research project emphasizing the interdisciplinary principles of physics and chemistry, allowing students to learn system operations and scripting in Linux. This project requires students to have experience with high-level mathematics courses.

Major:
Physic, Chemistry
